talking shop ON LOCATION/OUT & ABOUT Sensational sundowners out of Africa Trip to Turks & Caicos
TURKS and Caicos Islands Tourist Board (UK/Europe) took a group of agents on a trip to explore the very best of its
islands. The agents were certainly not disappointed. Gemma Dobson, from Scott Dunn,
said: "I was particularly impressed with the standard of the hotels and high levels of service at all of the hotels we visited. Turks & Caicos really does have some of the best hotels in the Caribbean and can offer something for even the most discerning of guests. All of the hotels we visited were quite different with their own distinct feel. "Since coming back I have been able
to enthusiastically talk with first-hand experience about the stunning powder white beaches too!" Mark Allen, of Carrier, agreed. He said:
SPECIALIST operator Africa Collection recently ran a VIP fam trip to Zambia and Botswana.
Flying from Heathrow with South African Airways, via Johannesburg, the group started their trip in Livingstone, Zambia, to take in the power and the glory of the impressive Victoria Falls before transferring to the luxurious islands of Siankaba Lodge on the mighty Zambezi River. They sat sipping sundowners on a sand bank in the middle of the Zambezi, which all agreed was a highlight, before moving across the Zambia/Botswana border for a night at Chobe Game Lodge, in Chobe National Park. While based in the park they enjoyed a river cruise through the stunning scenery of the Chobe River.

www.sellinglonghaul.com • December 2012 63 Next up was a flight to the Savute
region on Chobe for a night at Savute Safari Lodge with time to visit the Savute Marsh and enjoy some amazing game viewing. From here they connected to Leroo la
Tau in the Makgadikgadi National Park for two nights before concluding their trip on the edge of the Okovango Delta with a stay at Camp Moremi in the Moremi Game Reserve. The agents were very impressed with what they saw. Peter Eastaugh, of Travellers World, was among those on the trip and said: “This was a superb educational visit to darkest Africa! Well it was darkest Africa to me to a certain extent but now I am completely enlightened! I was enthralled by the desert and the Delta, with the great
guides, the tasty food, the animals and birds. I now feel a lot more confident about selling the destination and really feel able to bring to life the attributes of the region and explain just what it is like travelling through this wonderful part of Africa.”

"My lasting memory of our stay is of the powder white beaches stretching as far as the eye can see. Whether clients want complete seclusion and privacy on a boat trip and a picnic to one of the smaller islands or to just relax in resort, there is something for everyone. "The condo-style accommodation
offered a really high standard and the dining options were excellent from the local cuisine, conch being a speciality, to really fine dining."
