Designed by the architects behind North Island, Seychelles, the property will combine ‘modernist architecture with organic geometry’ using indigenous materials. This new concept in bush camps comes

complete with WiFi and plunge pools in each of its six villas and will be open year-round. Said Christine Carr of Norman Carr Safaris: “We have to remain innovative and sense that Chinzombo will bring in a completely new type of tourist”. Elsewhere in South Luangwa, Robin Pope Safaris has relocated its fl agship Tena Tena camp following a change in course of the Luangwa River. Lower Zambezi offers probably the best opportunity to get close to nature in a canoe. This remote region, only accessible by boat or light aircraft, is a haven for birds and idle hippo and the perfect place to watch elephant as they stroll across the river towards Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools on the opposite bank. Visitors can choose to go on walking or driving safaris (on untarred roads) and visitors need a stay of at least three days to explore fully. Riverside lodges include Sausage Tree, Chiawa or Old Mondoro, which claims to have had 298 leopard sightings this season.
