HOW USEFUL DID YOU FIND YOUR FAM?

PAULA BOYD Travelplanners "My fam has really inspired me to sell

British Columbia. There is so much to see and do there. "We were on a fly-drive itinerary and although we covered some long distances the ever- changing scenery was always amazing, shifting as we left one mountain range and headed for the next. The roads are great and there are plenty of interesting and picturesque places to stop and break the journey. “My advice for any other travel agents interested in selling Canada is to do the Canada Specialist training programme! “Also, they should register for

the regular newsletters, which provinces such as British Columbia email out, and attend the workshops. "I love Canada and I love selling

it – even more so after my trip to British Columbia.”

JANE BENNETT Foresta Travel “To actually see the product, touch

it and experience it brings you so much more than merely comparing pictures or descriptions in brochures, or even attending training evenings or similar events. “I want every one of my clients to visit Canada now – it's simply a wonderful country. “People can't fail to enjoy Canada and agents should be confident that, with all it has to offer, they will be selling their clients a dream holiday and can relax in the knowledge that they will love the experience.”

megafam, when she was impressed by the wilderness-based experiences on offer in Yukon. She said the trip, which focused on

fly-drive possibilities, helped her ‘fill out a mostly blank canvas’ when it comes to BC product knowledge. “Although I have sent many customers to Vancouver in the past I was never really able to talk about what to do there with any authority, beyond it being a great city to spend some time in.

Whistler was also an eye opener, Paula added. "I always had in my mind that it was just a ski resort. I was very pleasantly surprised!" she said. “It’s also a hot spot for outdoor pursuits in the summer and has some great hotels, cafes, restaurants and shopping among cosy cobblestone plazas and open-air squares. I will definitely be suggesting Whistler be included in summer itineraries.

“It’s just a short drive by car or coach

from Vancouver on the scenic Sea to Sky Highway, with incredible panoramic views, or, if you prefer to arrive in style, you can take the Rocky Mountaineer. Jane Bennett of Foresta Travel could

draw only on one previous Canada experience. “I twice travelled through the tunnel between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, just so I could get a Canadian stamp in my passport!" she said, but this time visiting the west coast left her impressed. “What an amazing place! The scenery is absolutely stunning and the people are lovely, friendly and welcoming. It has so much to offer for all sorts of travellers,” she said.

A highlight for Paula was the western

cowboy experience her group enjoyed at Three Bars Ranch, near Canmore. “We rode horses through pine

forests, drove a Utility Terrain Vehicle, shot off a firearm and did some roping. “I’ll never forget the friendly hospitality offered by Tyler, his family, and the ranch’s wranglers and staff.” Visiting the other side of the country

was Travel Counsellor Chris Roberts, who joined the Atlantic Canada group. For Chris indelible impressions were

left by the coastal scenery, food and wildlife on offer in Newfoundland and New Brunswick. “St. John’s, Newfoundland, has some fascinating history and the most pretty picture-postcard houses, which are painted in all different colours, as no two are allowed to be the same on a given street,” he recalled. “After several days of exploring we
