BY LAURA GELDER TRAVELSPHERE revealed its new brand to the trade this autumn, as it launched its 2013 brochure merging the previous Travelsphere and Page & Moy brands. Just one brochure replaces the usual eight which go out to the trade, whose sales revenue for the company has risen by 34% in 2012. Trade activity with the launch includes fams river cruising and China fams. Sales Director Colin Wilson (pictured above with National Account Manager Julie Franklin) said: “Travelsphere products are bookable online for agents and we will soon launch a dedicated river cruise brochure as well as a specialist China brochure. AITO announces roadshows. This autumn, AITO Specialist Agents will hold training and product update evenings in Bristol (October 2), Stratford-upon-Avon (October 3), London (October 4 and 9) and Harrogate (October 17). The events will combine dinners with speed-dating-style workshops.

big we are in China, as we were one of the first companies to operate there.” Travelsphere’s new logo reads 'Experience more.' As opposed to the previous phrase: 'The world. For less.' Wilson commented: “The previous logo drew attention to price rather than the value, which is more important to today’s customers.” The brochure steers clear of clichéd shots and icons like the Taj Mahal are pictured from a different angle, encapsulating Travelsphere's core value of being pioneering. The new brochure has increased its long haul product, featuring Hawaii for the first time, as well as a Treasures of China tour which takes customers to the lesser-known Szechuan province, with a
chance to volunteer at the panda sanctuary in Chengdu. Other experiences unique to Travelsphere include a private concert from Johnny Cash’s son or brother on the Deep South tour. Travelsphere is also writing to
customers, on behalf of travel agents, notifying them of the brand change and giving a call to action. The rebrand comes almost a year after
the company carried out research into brand perception and what customers wanted from escorted touring – notably: experienced experts and fulfilling experiences. Wilson commented: “The thousands of responses show what an engaged, loyal customer base we have.”

Continental Europe must all be agents who have completed the Aussie Specialist training programme. Face-to- face training, sales workshops and product updates from top tour operators is followed with 22 Australia-wide fams. Tourism Australia's Regional General Manager UK, Rodney Harrex, urged agents to get training: "There's plenty of time to complete the modules required to attend Corroboree. And with the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree, the world's oldest rainforest on its doorstep, Cairns is the place to learn about Australia.
