INDUSTRY NEWS Metal Coaters acquires


new manufacturing facility Metal Coaters, Houston, recently acquired a facil- ity in Middletown, Ohio, adding to three other manufacturing facilities located in Jackson, Miss.; Marietta, Ga.; and Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. When the Ohio facility is fully operational, Metal Coaters will have four light-gauge coil coating facili- ties strategically placed in key distribution areas throughout the United States.


Kingspan launches new


website designs and features Kingspan Insulated Panels North America, De- land, Fla., recently unveiled its new and graphi- cally enhanced, user-friendly website at www. kingspanpanels.us and www.kingspanpanels.ca. The revamped site includes dynamic imagery


and convenient tools for professionals visiting the online resource, including "Quick Links" to the most-used web pages, as well as homepage shortcuts to useful tools and apps. A new blog, IMPrint, has also been added, as well as conve- nient links to company news and technical and sales support teams. The new website, which builds on a previous


site design, has also been organized to best promote the second year of Kingspan's "Generation Kingspan" Student Architectural Design Competition. Also known simply as Gen K, the ambitious competition will reward students for creating energy-effi cient, sustainable building concepts using Kingspan's highly insulating, resilient panel systems. In addition, the new site's graphical appeal


refl ects Kingspan's long-standing focus on design quality and great architecture. New splash pages and promotional banners, along with a slide show of large images, offer a quick view into Kingspan's recent building projects and new product offerings.


Firestone Building Products expands AISC's Moor to chair NBIMS-US


V3 Project Committee Chris Moor, director of industry initiatives for the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) has been selected as the new chair of the project committee tasked with developing Version 3 (V3) of the National BIM Standard for the United States (NBIMS-US). A project of the National Institute of Building


EPDM manufacturing plant Firestone Building Products Co. LLC, Indianapo- lis, has invested more than $36 million, improv- ing infrastructure and increasing capacity at its EPDM manufacturing facility in Prescott, Ark., to further strengthen its ability to respond to customer demands. Already the world's largest EPDM manufactur-


ing plant, the new 18,000-square-foot addition will signifi cantly increase production of EPDM membrane and accessories and will support FSBP's growth strategy for the commercial construction market.


Sciences buildingSMART alliance (bSa), NBIMS-US is a consensus document that serves to standardize the way practitioners use BIM to more easily pass information from one phase of the building process to another. The NBIMS-US Project Committee over- sees the standard's development. Moor has been a long-time advocate for open


standards and improving interoperability. He has worked with 3-D technology and BIM since 1994, and leads AISC's efforts on technology integration and interoperability, which include exploring, implement- ing, and promoting new technologies that support and enhance the entire structural steel supply chain. A member of the NBIMS-US Project Commit-


tee and a director on the buildingSMART alliance Board of Direction, Moor was heavily involved in the development of NBIMS-US Version 2. He is also a member of the Design-Build Institute of America BIM
