Braehler system for parliament install
BRAEHLER ICS has equipped the plenary assembly hall of the Kenyan parliamentary building in Nairobi with a customised version of its CDSVAN system. The new setup enables the transmission of up to 32 languages, while votes and audience responses can be conducted using the ‘Yes’, ‘No’, and ‘Abstain’ keys. PIN- protected chip cards provide personal identification and not only serve as an overall registration card but also give access authorisation to the hall and enable attendance checking in voting procedures. The CDSVAN’s range of
flexible hardware options allows many individualised changes and additions.

Kenya’s parliament, for example, opted to have the control panels finished in natural anodised aluminium, decorated with a multicolour print of the parliamentary emblem. A specially developed housing forms a shell around the high-grade electronics and enables the unit’s seamless integration in the table’s 45º design. A click- fix table-locking feature allows the unit to be mounted and easily removed when required without the need for tools.
The installed system
serves 350 delegate units. It is also fitted with a chairman unit, featuring a ‘mute all’ button, and a secretary unit. Information on the ongoing conference inside the
parliamentary building can be shown on various IP display consoles. The system is connected to a Hansard system for recording and editing MPs’ speeches. Project implementation in
Kenya was carried out by Nairobi-based AVTECH Systems (East Africa), a Braehler ICS
partner. The manufacturer’s project manager travelled to Nairobi on several occasions to support the on-site team, including system start-up and end-user training.
