TECHNOLOGY: NEW PRODUCTS What’s new
OPTOMA, CALIBRE HQVIEW320, HQVIEW520
IT’S… A pair of image scalers from Optoma featuring image processing technology from Calibre.
DETAILS: The HQView320 and HQView520 edge-blend multiple curved images seamlessly. Almost any surface can be used to display precisely controlled edge-blended and warped displays using these image scalers along with an Optoma ProScene projector. The exclusive
co-development between Optoma and Calibre has enabled pre-sets to be
developed on the Calibre products for each of the Optoma ProScene models, greatly reducing the set-up time of blending and warping projects.
Harnessing the power of
the Reon video processor from IDT, and running HQV algorithms, HQView520 and 320 are compact yet high- performance image scalers with HDMI/DVI/ Component/VGA input capability and HDMI/DVI output. Both models include four-sided soft-edge blend for seamless blending of multiple projectors and
GENELEC SPEAKERANGLE APP
IT’S… The first digital tool which allows users to correctly set and match the angling of both stereo and 7.1 surround sound speakers, helping to ensure optimum audio fidelity.
DETAILS: Developed by Genelec and AudioApps, SpeakerAngle is compatible with iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and iPhone Touch 4th generation and later. In the app, which is available from
the iTunes App Store, dedicated onscreen speaker icons move as the
actual speaker is rotated, while number boxes below each speaker icon continuously display the angle of the speaker. The number boxes also change colour to let users know when their speaker is angled within industry recommendations and when it is angled to the same degree as the other one in the pair. Detailed information screens provide a tutorial on speaker angling, as well as step-by-step instructions for using SpeakerAngle.
AND ALSO: Described as intuitive and easy to use, the app is intended for home theatre owners, recording engineers, custom installers and anyone else working to get optimum sound from any loudspeaker system.

KRAMER 840HXL
IT’S… A high-performance HDMI video test pattern generator that replaces the 840H model.
DETAILS: The 840Hxl HDMI troubleshooting device generates 32 preset patterns at 16 popular computer and HD, and seven user-defined resolutions. The eighth, non-
user-defined, resolution space is called Output Native Resolution. This reads the detailed mode line of the native resolution of the display’s EDID and sets its output to exactly what the display is looking for. This feature makes the pattern generator more like a computer graphics card with

the ability to adapt to anything plugged into it. Via the front panel or
through PC software, the unit enables users to control the pattern being outputted, the resolution of the HDMI signal, the colour depth and the colour space of the video output. The 840Hxl provides full audio support allowing the
user to change the sampling frequency and bit depth.
AND ALSO:
With the 840Hxl, it is possible to turn HDCP on and off using one button. By isolating the HDCP signal, users will be able to easily identify the reason
the source isn’t working. AVAILABLE: Now

flexible geometry correction functions to adjust image shape and projector misalignment using a number of different techniques: dragging and dropping each image corner, by pin, barrel, rotation or by keystone and rotation. HQView520 is a multi-input
switcher-scaler with blend and warp. It features multi- region black level management for premium edge-blending applications and 3G-SDI input and output connectivity with backwards compatibility with HD-SDI and SD-SDI. A Genlock input
is provided for
studio/staging and is compatible with bi- or tri-level sync or black and burst.
AND ALSO: Optoma’s ProAV post-sale service team will support the complete blending project – the blending boxes and the projectors are treated as a single system thus simplifying the support process.

DIGITAL PROJECTION TITAN SUPER QUAD
IT’S… A 20,000-lumen digital projector.
DETAILS: Weighing in at around 40kg, the latest addition to the Titan range is said to be 40% smaller than comparable devices, while its four long-life lamps result in a lower total cost of ownership.
The liquid cooling and Dynamic Thermal Control, including 18 fans, are all individually regulated. This ensures the projector can be mounted in any position, in any environment, as it will automatically adjust itself. This is a constant process allowing the Titan Super
Quad to be run at 100% output 24/7.
Multinode warp and edge blend, with multiple channel memories and black level uplift, are included. Fully active 3D with HDMI 1.4 and up to 160Hz refresh rate offer flicker-free viewing, while dual DVI inputs and 3G-SDI offer high-speed video delivery. Finally an intelligent lens mount offers image positioning memories across the whole lens range from 0.67-11.2:1.
AND ALSO: The Titan Super Quad fits the 5 Axis RapidRig mounting frame, which includes accurate pitch, roll and yaw adjustments, allowing each projector to be quickly and efficiently installed.
