SMART-X® –The Distinctive Answer To Sophisticated Advertising

3A Composites offers a comprehensive range of materials for visual communication in and around shops and retail stores. One of them is SMART-X®, the all-plastic polystyrene sheet material previously known as FOREX®smart.

SMART-X® is a lightweight, all-plastic sheet material with surfaces of UV and weather-resistant solid polystyrene (HIPS) and a core of expanded polystyrene that is completely moisture-resistant. These characteristics make SMART-X® the world's only lightweight foam board for external applications without any significant change in colour for a period of up to two years. The extremely lightweight and the

disproportionally high rigidity and flatness of SMART-X® means it is ideal for all types of signage, especially large-format signs or long and narrow signs. SMART-X® is also an optimal medium for self- supporting, free-standing structures such as POS/POP applications. Due to its refined surface structure and

the large format production (up to 2 metres width) SMART-X® is also perfectly suited for direct digital printing.

Smart-X® – The Green Aspect SMART-X® is a mono-material composite panel made from 100% polystyrene and therefore perfectly meets the demand for ecological materials in the area of visual communication. It is 100% recyclable in the no. 6 waste stream. Additionally, more than 95% of the production waste is collected and recycled within the production plant. SMART-X® also meets the requirements of the RoHS/WEEE directives and REACH regulations of the European Union on the restriction of hazardous substances.

Applications - Printing – Cutting – Assembling SMART-X® can be used with all lamination and printing techniques for applications in the field of advertising signage, shop decoration and POS/POP displays. Thanks to the excellent ratio of extremely low weight and high rigidity and flatness, SMART-X® is ideal for the following two-dimensional applications: All types of signage, especially large-

format or long and narrow signs – formats where other materials usually deform.

Optimal for self-supporting, free-

standing structures directly printed – milled – shipped flat – assembled on site.

Life-sized fashion displays made from

SMART-X® – directly printed – contour milled – assembled on site – ready to go!

Major furniture stores, DIY stores, food retail chains as well as suppliers of POS/POP displays are just a few examples of the current satisfied SMART-X® customer base.

Unique Range Of Processing Options The main processing possibilities of SMART-X® are all mounting and printing techniques used for diverse applications such as signage, shop decoration and product presentation. The lightweight full plastic sheet material is usable up to 2 years outside and offers a variety of processing possibilities.

The bright white, homogeneous and

UV-stabilized polystyrene provide an ideal printing substrate and very good ink adhesion – even when used outside for 2 years. SMART-X® is completely moisture- resistant and can be used up to 70 °C. Wear cotton gloves when handling unprinted sheets and wipe the sheets dry after having used liquid cleaning agents. Use ionized air to blow loose debris off SMART-X® sheets prior to printing. The surfaces of SMART-X® sheets are

ideally suited to the application of lettering films and vinyl graphics. In order to choose the right film for the purpose, the location
