I-85 NORTH
Members from the I-85 North board participated in Relay for Life on May 4-5 at Hoschton Park. The team camped out overnight and took turns walking around the track to raise money and awareness to help the American Cancer Society create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
The I-85 NBOR team earned over $1,600 in donations from various fundraisers and contributors. Not only did the team raise money for a good cause but they also earned the coveted Silver Spoon Award for their midnight breakfast of pancakes, bacon and grits. Each team carries a walking stick so they can always find their relay team. The theme for the I-85 North team was Swamp People. Their walking stick was a cane fishing pole with an alligator on the hook, which won them the Walking Stick Award.

The GIAR YPN elected to support its local American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life for 2012. The GIAR YPN worked very hard to raise money for this event by putting on the GIAR YPN Bingo night that was held on March 27. Several board members came out to have a great time playing bingo and to help raise money to benefit Relay For Life. The Relay For Life event, which was held on April 27, was a huge success with over 8,000 people in attendance. The YPN rallied again to staff a tent at the event and stayed until late in the night to continue raising money.
