NORTHEAST GEORGIA BOARD
The Northeast Georgia Board kicked off their 3rd Annual Mountain Idol event in Hayesville, N.C. Contestants sang for a chance to enter the Mountain Idol finale. Tryouts were also held in Cherokee, N.C., Towns County and Fannin County, Ga. Two winners were chosen from each location and will compete for the winning title in July. The winner will receive a chance to perform as an opening act at the Anderson Music Hall in Hiawassee, plus an opportunity to make a CD at a local recording studio. The proceeds from this event are donated to a local charity within the county who produced the winning contestant.


 


PICKENS COUNTY
The Pickens County Board held its second Charity Golf Classic on Thursday, April 19, at Crystal Falls Golf Club in Dawsonville. Gorgeous weather made for a great day of golf and camaraderie among peers and co-workers. Many thanks to all of this year’s sponsors, players and golf committee, led by Bert Sellars. The net proceeds will support these local charities:


Pickens Family Partners; Pickens County College Scholarships; and, Elementary School Start up Supplies. Without their support, the success of this event would not have been possible.


 


TROUP COUNTY BOARD
Troup County Board held their annual BBQ for Camp Viola on April 28 and raised $2,180.17 for the local children’s camp. TCBOR set up tents and had several members that volunteered to help collect tickets and hand out fixed plates. The Board would like to thank everyone who participated in this event!
