Fork Lift Trucks Product Focus

Evolution in efficiency

Yale says its new generation of 8-16 tonne trucks offers an evolution in both operator efficiency and truck performance, which combine together to maximise productivity.

R

ising costs of fuel and the demands of customers for increased efficiency led to the launch of Yale’s new heavy-duty,

diesel-engined fork lift truck series in the latter half of 2011. Designed to use less fuel and be more productive than the previous series, the GDP80-120DC and GDP130- 160EC benefit from the advances originally introduced in the design of the company’s Veracitor VX series, specifically in the areas

of powertrain and hydraulic configurations, all designed to meet customers’ requirements. With longer service intervals, increased uptime and reduced servicing costs, the new DC and EC series of 8-16t trucks offer lower lifetime cost of ownership and greater productivity, according to Yale.

Available in two configurations, both versions use a high-performance 116kW (155hp) @2,300rpm diesel engine combining durabil- ity over longer periods of peak power operation with excellent accelera- tion and hauling power. Fuel savings of up to 5% are achieved through the use of the company’s Load Sensing Hydraulics system, which uses variable displace- ment hydraulic pumps to sense demand and deliver

the exact amount of hydraulic oil required to meet the demands of the application. The Value configuration employs an ad- vanced electronically controlled transmission that provides additional cooling capacity for use in intensive applications resulting in lower overall cost of ownership and up to an ad- ditional 5% fuel saving over the base model. Further fuel saving options, including travel speed limiter, empty seat shutdown feature with variable time delay, and low rolling-resistance and highly durable radial tyres, can be specified on both models. Dual variable displacement hydraulic pumps on the Value model allow up to 20% higher lifting speeds for intense productivity.

LOWER LIFETIME COSTS

The load sensing hydraulic system, which includes advanced filters to protect ma- jor components from potentially harmful contaminants, contributes to enhanced reliability and extends the life expec- tancy of parts. As a result, service intervals have been increased to 2,000 hours, contributing to reduced service costs. An optional oil temperature warning system can further improve the life expectancy of vital components by precise monitoring of the lower operating oil temperatures. Yale says that is operator comfort comes as standard across its range of warehouse and materials handling equipment. The GDP80-120DC and GDP130-160EC are no exception, with five optional cab configurations that feature increased visibility, optional heated top window and a variety of air conditioning and climatic control options. A premium deluxe seat with the additional option of heating is also available. n
