fter weeks of hard work and preparation, Claygate Distribution Ltd hosted their long awaited charity

event, “The Return to Hell’s Kitchen” on 3rd May. In memory of Siamp UK’s Managing Director and dear friend, Stuart Lorne, the event was held at The Peony Chinese Restaurant in Charing, Kent to raise funds for Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Stuart passed away earlier this year and was an integral part in the bathroom industry. From his early career in sales to launching his own business, Stuart always loved to challenge himself with something new. The evening certainly refl ected Stuart’s thirst for aiming high and mirrored the immense support that both charities gave to Stuart and his family. Greeted by the evening’s chefs, ‘The Dirty Dozen’, guests arrived at 7pm to take their seats for a fantastic night in store. ‘The Dirty Dozen’, (whom Stuart was an original member), consisted of Claygate’s Managing Directors, Mel and Andrew Streek, along with their friends and colleagues. ‘The Dirty Dozen’ was created for the fi rst ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ back in 2009, raising money for Enduro Africa. Like before, the chefs then split into two teams and prepared, cooked and

served two different menus to compete for the best. With the heat high in the kitchen and the atmosphere buzzing in the packed restaurant, the evening got off to a fl ying start. Mel Streek kicked off the speeches, reminding guests of the important reason of the occasion. Laura Kennedy from the South East division of Macmillan was also present with a few words of support and praise. Additionally, a poignant speech written by Cancer Research UK’s, Lindsey Tefl er, was read by Claygate’s Sales Manager, Dionne Banks. After a few moments of deep refl ection and with glasses refi lled, the auction and raffl e commenced, drawing in an astonishing amount of donations. Claygate’s target to raise funds in excess of £15,000 on the evening was quickly smashed, reaching a phenomenal total of £30,000. Achieving this fantastic amount means that both charities can continue to prevent, treat and fi nd a cure for cancer.

Mel commented “Although this fantastic amount has been raised, we stress that the public should not stop donating.” He continued: “It is vital for everyone to keep giving to Cancer Research UK and Macmillan. Without your help, it limits these charities. We urge them to keep going; their support means everything.”
