Traditional Kitchens
Trends in traditional kitchens A

s customers seek to improve and add value to their homes, transforming the kitchen – as the heart of the home - has become a key focus for many. The more daring are experimenting with juxtaposing contemporary design schemes with a traditional environment, but most people prefer to create a fresh new environment whilst maintaining a classic look. Adding colour, or completely changing colour scheme, is currently proving a popular trend for giving traditional kitchens a ‘make-over’ and is a really effective route to refreshing the room and achieving a totally new setting. In response, kitchen manufacturers like ourselves have developed a wider choice of colours, enhancing available palettes with deeper tones or softer shades that complement core colours. Designers are recognising that colour can be used to cleverly zone different areas of the kitchen, to accent
statement pieces such as an island unit or freestanding furniture and can be combined with natural woods and other different finishes to stunning effect.
Stamping an individual style on the kitchen has become increasingly important to customers, with some wanting to select a particular colour range that may not be on offer in the standard palettes, in which case a ‘ready to paint’ door option is the perfect solution. In continuing to meet customers’ evolving needs, even within a traditional kitchen range, it is essential that manufacturers continue to innovate and set, rather than follow, the trend!

Mereway Kitchens - A Classically Colourful Palette for English Revival
P
ainted kitchens are in style for classic design kitchens this year and Mereway Kitchens have hit the spot with 16 beautiful colours and tones to choose from for their English Revival In-frame Shaker range. It’s all about creating real impact with colour, and these alluring colours derive from key periods in design history with each core colour being complemented by a softer or deeper tone. Each colour option has been carefully selected to sit perfectly with the delicate Natural Oak doors and cabinets also available in this collection. Colour options include rustic Flame and Copper reds for adding depth and warmth, calming Duck Egg and Marine blues for a gentle, soothing sense and earthy Slate and Pewter greys that add a
touch of nature’s hues. The finishes can be mixed and matched either tone on tone with each shade featuring alongside its softer sister colour, or with a splash of contrasting colour choice for a dresser unit or Island to create a striking focal point. The possibilities are endless.
With delicate 78mm stiles and rails and a beaded profile on all frames, this beautifully classical Shaker design exudes quality and elegance. Solid 19mm glue and dowelled cabinets and the addition of solid timber dovetail drawer boxes all go into presenting a truly exceptional range that is built to last. u0121 706 7844
