British Manufacturers buck the trend and prosper in shrinking markets
W
ith the Queen’s Jubilee and Olympic celebrations this year, now has never been a more poignant time to be a British manufacturer. After a year which has seen markets shrink and large retailers go under, a number of British kitchen and bathroom manufacturers are bucking the trend and prospering through a lead in service, innovation and design.
Comment by Tom Anderton Marketing Manager, Moores
As more consumers opt to improve rather than move, the emphasis on design and quality is more important than ever in the purchasing decision. Clean and handle-less modern lines and neutral traditional finishes are leading the way within the kitchen market – ensuring a timeless investment that won’t become dated as newer trends emerge.
The bathroom market has seen a re- emergence of old trends with the rise of modular furniture and innovations in the form of technology now playing a more prominent role with the introduction of high-tech shower toilets, integrated TV’s, heated mirrors and digital showers.
Sustainability is also top of the corporate agenda, as pressure mounts on housebuilders and social housing providers to ensure developments are both eco-friendly and sustainable by earning points towards the Code for Sustainable Homes.
If the UK is going to meet its commitment of reducing carbon emissions and combat climate change, then it is essential that greener homes are built.
With the Code for Sustainable Homes in place, private and social housing developments must prove that they are utilising the latest in energy efficient materials by earning points to ensure sustainable communities are developed.
