Stephens & George Centenary

Throughout the course of the year, we will be hosting and taking part in various events and activities in an attempt to raise funds for local charities and also our newly formed Stephens & George Centenary Charitable Trust. In conjunction with

Tenovus cancer charity, we will be taking on one of the toughest challenges in the UK. In May, a select band of S&G employees will attempt to complete the Three Peaks Challenge. These lucky employees have been tasked to climb and conquer the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales.

PEAK 1: Scotland, Ben Nevis at 1,343m

PEAK 2: England, Scafell Pike at 978m

PEAK 3: Wales, Snowdon at 1085m.

Delme Birch, Customer Services Account Executive and elected Team Motivator has been at the forefront of the training schedules. He said, “Everyone has been walking in the Brecon Beacons once, twice and sometimes three times a week to try to improve fitness levels. We all regularly walk Pen-Y-Fan after work and on Sunday mornings. We know this is a massive challenge but it’s one that we’ll enjoy and do our utmost to complete.”

The challenge takes place on 25th – 27th May. Three teams each containing five S&G staff members have been formed with the aim of completing this challenge within the 24 hour timeframe. Training programmes and fitness routines have been implemented with all the volunteers sacrificing their evenings and weekends with the aim of being in peak condition for this event.
