SCHOOLS LITERACY SUPPORT WORKER PROGRAMME Staff members and young people volunteered onto the Literacy Support Worker programme held at Dowlais Primary School in Merthyr Tydfil. The three week course was funded by Glamorgan Gates, part of Glamorgan University. Participants had the opportunity to discuss contemporary writing and complete their own poems, micro-fiction, and monologues. They learned some reading and performance techniques and were encouraged to share their work with the group at the end of each session.

MERTHYR TYDFIL HOUSING ASSOCIATION JUNIOR AND SENIOR YOUTH FORUM The Trust are working in partnership with Merthyr Tydfil Housing Association and young people from Merthyr Tydfil on a literacy programme where they work on producing a newsletter

for the benefit of young people living within the Merthyr Tydfil Housing Association Estates. As one of the Community Development Officers at the Association said, “The young people really enjoy the sessions and they have a great relationship with the instructors. There has been a significant improvement in their attitude towards reading and writing. I am impressed with the development of the young people and the positive impact it has had on their lives.”
