Korean Air three times weekly Gatwick flights to Seoul, complementing the existing daily ex-LHR service, Selling Long Haul’s Steven Thompson accompanied a group of UK tour operators to sample South Korea’s delights. Hosted by the Korea Tourism Organisation, Korean Air and Hyatt Hotels, the trip started in the high tech ‘well organised’ spotless capital city of Seoul with a charm and beauty all of its own. This was followed by an hour’s drive to the border with North Korea to see the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) and then a KTS rapid train ride down to Korea’s second city, Busan, and a short flight to the popular holiday island of Jeju. The six-day trip to South Korea enabled the operators to experience what the country has to offer including UNESCO sights, temples and architecture, plus sample some Korean food and hospitality.
JIMMY MCLEAN Cox&Kings “South Korea will be a new destination for many UK travellers. Clients will have been to Thailand, Laos and Cambodia but a trip to South Korea should also be considered. The highlight was definitely the trip to the DMZ. It was amazing to go to the observatory and have a glimpse over to North Korea. The people were unbelievably friendly, and despite Seoul being a large city, there were no glimpses of poverty and the streets were clean and litter free with not a hint of graffiti”.
