Wilderness launches online virtual training
Indaba witnessed the launch of Wilderness Safaris’ new virtual training programme for its staff. Said Andy Payne, Wilderness Group CEO on the new concept: “Wilderness TV puts the learning process into the hands of our staff, allowing them to log on whenever convenient to develop their skills and knowledge through a video interface. It is essentially our internal 'YouTube' empowering our staff and enabling them to see what is happening
in other countries and operations within the Wilderness Group instantly and graphically. This is revolutionary in remote environments such as the forests of the Congo Basin, the savannahs of Botswana and the deserts of Namibia." Wilderness TV will eventually be made accessible to guests in some camps as a way of sharing more interpretive detail of the local environment and the group's conservation success stories.

Ocean lodge for Newmark Hotels Boutique hotel group, Newmark, has
added a sixth property to its exclusive portfolio in the Western Cape – the Strandloper Ocean Lodge. The beach-side property is about 90
minutes north of Cape Town near Paternoster. Simple design and local seafood cuisine makes this an alternative to urbane Cape Town and a great place to relax on a short stay. The group lauched in 1972 with its
Bantry Bay property, The Ambassador, and opened Queen Victoria on the Waterfront in Cape Town last year.
