INDUSTRY COMMENT
TONY DALY Managing Director, Ranch Rider "Montana, Wyoming, Texas
and Arizona are bringing in the majority of bookings to the US. South Africa is selling particularly well as the exchange rate is six per cent more favourable than last year. “We are also seeing growth in special interests. Many of our guest and resort ranches combine personal passions such as photography, art and wildlife-centric pursuits within the one riding holiday.” See Ranch Holidays on p34
DELLA TULLY Travel Trade and PR Rep UK and Ireland, The Broadway Collection
"New York remains a top U.S. destination for the UK market and a key component of any visit is a Broadway show. "UK and Irish operators appreciate
Broadway Inbound's easy booking system, great inventory and attractive rates and commission. We can assist with tour operators who require log-in/passwords and provide staff training and presentations.” See Broadway Musicals on p52

STEVE HARTRIDGE EDITOR
welcome T
TO SELLING LONG HAUL
he relationship between airlift and the success of a tourism destination’s international arrivals is self-evidently a highly critical one.
The popularity of tourism hotspots ebbs and flows but agents
would do well to keep close track of airlines’ new routes to see where sales efforts should be focused, not least because of travellers’ understandable preference for direct flights. Canada is a case in point. In
spite of a cutback to its tourism budget, the country’s international tourism arrivals are on the up and it’s clearly no coincidence that Virgin Atlantic has chosen now to launch its inaugural flight to Vancouver; nor that Virgin Holidays has introduced a dedicated Canada brochure (see p7). Our news pages also detail new flights to Seoul and to Beijing, highlighting again the huge expansion of tourism to Asia. Look out too for dedicated supplements on Latin America, Mauritius and of course the latest edition of Selling Canada. Finally, as we head towards a feast of summer action in the UK,
don’t forget the event of the season, Selling Long Haul’s/Funway’s Far East Party being held on July 10. Details are on page 61.
