plastics per week, converting baled scrap into high molecular weight or fractional melt HDPE. It also produces a range of hybrid blends. The company says many customers use its recycled resin in injection moulding, extrusion or blow moulding applications as a 100% replacement for virgin grades. One of the reasons for selecting Davis-Standard equipment was for its ability to optimise the screw design. “Davis-Standard engineers understand how important good screw design is to product quality,” said ERC president Peter Suttoni. “Our parts and screws are interchangeable, enabling us to run our product on either line. The screws also help eliminate melt fracture so that we are not degrading the polymer as we process it.” Davis-Standard also announced it recently installed a

Output boost US-based plastics recycler and high molecular weight HDPE pellet producer Engineered Recycling Company (ERC) reports increased outputs and improved process flexibility using its PolyCycle recycling lines, supplied by US machinery group Davis-Standard. The North Carolina based company, which recently expanded its fractional melt HDPE pellet capacity, is running two Davis-Standard Merritt PolyCycle lines equipped with 600hp drives, integrated devolatilisation and filtration, and special feed throats designed to handle the wide variety of materials faced by a volume recycler.

number of its upgraded extruder ram stuffers at an undisclosed fibre recycling plant in the US. The units feature an upgraded feed section with a larger opening and a more aggressive plunger head that enables it to handle a wider range of raw materials. The ram stuffer is pneumatically driven and includes an oversized cylinder that is said to improve process efficiency. An upgrade kit is available for users of earlier ram stuffer systems.
