EQUIPMENT AND INSTALLATIONS
In environments where fork lift trucks operate, equipment fea- tures and operating procedures mean any potential hazards are kept to an absolute minimum.
AvantiGas’ in-house technical team designs, builds and installs an LPG installa- tion to meet a business’ individual needs. A pressure relief valve is designed to ensure no LPG discharges in the event of an emergency and, in addition, a screw-type connection is designed to prevent accidental cylinder disengagement. On AvantiGas’ bulk installations, breakaway couplings are designed to prevent product loss in the event of accidental vehicle drive-away whilst the fi ller hose is still connected. Beyond the equipment, AvantiGas
works closely with customers
to help ensure the wider installation is as safe as possible. AvantiGas’ engineers ensure vessels are placed correctly, advise on the installation of fi re-fi ghting equipment, and place protection barriers where required.

These barriers help prevent damage and LPG loss in the event of accidental vehicle impact. Plus all of its installations include failsafe shutdown systems that can be interfaced with customers’ own emergency arrangements.
INSPECTIONS AND TRAINING
After the installation, AvantiGas’ health and safety procedures don’t stop there. Its tanker drivers will conduct visual safety inspections every time they deliver. Any problems will be immediately reported then repaired, as with all their rigorous annual checks. LPG handling requires in-depth safety training, and AvantiGas is on-hand to provide support for customers, includ- ing general health and safety issues surrounding LPG, and for drivers to fi ll their fork lift trucks safely every time. AvantiGas provides a 24-hour emergency number, taking calls 365 days a year in the event of leaks or faults. AvantiGas conducts thor- ough investigations into all HSSE incidents and near-misses with signifi cant actual or potential consequences, and reports back accordingly.
