EAR READERS, You’ll notice that we have two
covers for our summer issue of Mount Pleasant Magazine. Our reason, to put it simply, is that we liked them both so much, we couldn’t choose between the two.
Our direct mail edition was sent to our subscribers, as
well as to 11,250 homeowners in Mount Pleasant and the surround- ing islands. Te cover shot is of our three local weathermen: Bill Walsh, Tom Crawford and Rob Fowler. You may recognize them because they appear on your local television networks. Te morning we shot those photos, I met our photog- rapher, Kayla Jones, at Waterfront Memorial Park, under the Ravenel Bridge. Folks noticed us and the camera equipment, but not nearly as much as they did when the weather guys showed up. Suddenly, everyone on the pier was watching our shoot, trying to edge a little closer to the action. A few people even shook hands with the friendly meteorologists and asked for autographs. in various locations around town. Te cover was shot on Shem Creek on the most beautiful Tursday afternoon imaginable. Local fashion pho- tographer Chase Greiser was kind enough to offer his skills and risk the well-being of the equipment by getting into a canoe. Our paddleboard models, Ryan O’Shea and Ryan Dadds, are East Cooper professionals by day – a firefighter and a nurse, respectively – who happen to enjoy board sports in
their leisure time. Te boards were provided by Odyssey Board Shop and Air & Earth, both of Mount Pleasant. We hope these two covers represent to you what they
represent to us: the folks who make Mount Pleasant a fun and versatile community for everyone. And in a way, these two covers are intrinsically linked – after all, you’re prob- ably going to check the weather report before you enjoy a day on the waters of Shem Creek; I know we did.
