A New Life
During spring, all of creation seems to testify to this profound truth: God can bring new life to all living creatures.
Consider your life for a moment. Maybe you have found yourself in a place where all hope seems dead. Maybe you think that you have made too many wrong choices for God to forgive you. But God is already aware of all that you have done and even all that you will do. And there is nothing you can do to make God love you more and nothing you can do to make Him love you less. His love and grace extend beyond your sin to a place where He can give you a new life if you will let Him.
You must understand though that you cannot achieve this new life by your own merits. Regardless of any “good deeds” you may do, God states in Romans 3:10, “There is none righteous, no, not one.” There are no righteous people because everyone is a sinner. According to Romans 3:23, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Since God is holy and man is sinful, we have come short of Him because our sins have separated us from Him.
Although we as sinners cannot save ourselves from the punishment for our sins, there is hope. God has offered everyone the gift of new life through Christ. According to Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Jesus did for us what we could not do for ourselves. I Corinthians 15:3b-4 says that Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again the third day. He paid the penalty for our sins
through His death on the cross. Because of this, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
Since Jesus paid the price, there is nothing you can do to earn or deserve God’s salvation and eternal life. It is a gift that has already been purchased through the blood of Christ.
You can have God’s gift of new life in Christ today! Jesus said in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Will you now acknowledge that you are a sinner in need of a Savior and in turn accept God’s free gift of salvation and new life through Jesus?
If you would like to have new life in Christ, you may use the following prayer as a guide to express your desire to God:
Dear God,
I know that I am a sinner. Thank You for sending Your perfect Son to die in my place. I know that it is only through His sacrificial death on the cross and resurrection from the dead that I am able to have a new life in You. I now accept Your gift of life. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen
If you have accepted God’s gift of new life, please let us know so we can encourage you and pray for you. To learn more about the Christian life, we suggest reading the Gospel of John in the New Testament.
