22 FEBRUARY: PARIS
A Russian couple, aged 30 and 28, engaged in a drunken brawl with French police on board an Air France flight preparing to depart Charles de Gaulle for Brazil. One of the police officers was punched in the face, while another ended up on six days' sick leave due to his injuries.
24 FEBRUARY: GLASGOW A fight on board a LOT Polish Airlines flight, en route from Chicago to Warsaw, resulted in the aircraft diverting to Glasgow.
5 MARCH: LAGOS An Air Nigeria flight from Lagos to Abuja had to turn back to Lagos due to runway repairs being underway in Abuja. Some of the passengers allegedly became unruly when they disembarked in Lagos.
6 MARCH: MELBOURNE
A passenger became violent on a Qantas flight en route from Perth to Melbourne and had to be restrained.
9 MARCH: DALLAS
The unruly passenger in this case was the American Airlines flight attendant who told passengers, by using the PA system whilst the aircraft was taxiing out to the runway for departure, that she wouldn't be responsible if the plane crashed. An off- duty pilot flying in first class, together with other flight attendants and passengers, restrained her; the aircraft returned to the gate where she and a flight attendant she had kicked were removed from the flight.
13 MARCH: LONDON Two Israeli men, aged 28 and 33, were interviewed when they disembarked a British Airways flight from Las Vegas as they had allegedly been making inappropriate comments regarding Iran. They were released without charge.
13 MARCH: HALIFAX, CANADA A Thomson Airways flight en route from Manchester to Cancun diverted to Halifax due to the drunken behaviour of a passenger in which he is alleged to have sat on passengers’ laps and picked up and consumed drinks from other passengers’ tray tables.
15 MARCH: FARGO
Cari Johnson, 45, allegedly assaulted passengers on an Allegiant Air flight from Phoenix to Fargo. Initially she was not charged but, when she became aggressive at a detox centre she

26 MARCH: LARNACA, CYPRUS Reports emerge that four Israelis were arrested when their Arkia flight landed in Larnaca due to their intoxicated behaviour on the short flight from Tel Aviv. They allegedly refused to take their seats, shouted and threw rubbish on the floor and, when a flight attendant asked them to sit down, they swore at her and spat seed peels on the plane's floor. They were immediately deported back to Israel.
27 MARCH: AMARILLO, TEXAS A JetBlue flight en route from New York JFK to Las Vegas diverted to Amarillo after one of the pilots, Clayton Osbon, had been restrained. Osbon had initially been coaxed out of the flight deck by his colleague due to his erratic behaviour in which he allegedly started flipping switches. Once outside the cockpit, he tried to regain entry and became, according to passenger reports, very agitated, made comments about Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan "going to take us down” and told passengers to say the Lord’s Prayer. Osborn was restrained by passengers. An off-duty pilot on board assisted the Pilot-in-Command to land the plane.
15 MARCH: BEIJING
A flight attendant on an Air China flight, en route from Hong Kong to Beijing, started using her mobile phone to send text messages as the aircraft prepared to land. She was later suspended.
16 MARCH: LOS ANGELES A man was arrested on his arrival off an American Airlines flight from Dallas for having tried to enter the flight deck. He had also made numerous comments about explosives.
16 MARCH: LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY Paul R. Valera, 28, was charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place for his threatening behaviour in the airport. Valera had missed his flight due to spending too long at the bar and had then become upset with airport and airline personnel.
17 MARCH: COLOGNE A 34-year-old woman became aggressive on a Condor flight operating from Palma de Mallorca to Cologne. She is reported to have hit and spat at a flight attendant on board.
27 MARCH: KOZHIKODE, INDIA A 38-year-old man, allegedly inebriated, misbehaved with the pilot and CISF officials on his arrival at Karippur International Airport in Kozhikode. He had earlier tried to manhandle the pilot before the Air India Express flight from Dubai to Calicut took off.
27 MARCH: PORTLAND, OREGON Two children, aged 3 and 8, were alleged to be extremely disruptive on board a SkyWest flight en route from Long Beach to Portland, repeatedly refusing to fasten their seatbelts and generally creating a disturbance. Police were called to meet the flight in Portland but the children, together with their parents, were allowed to board another flight to Seattle thereafter.
27 MARCH: FORT MYERS, FLORIDA
Peggy Albedhady- Sanchez, a 50-year- old woman who had earlier indicated that she had a fear of flying, had to be restrained on board a US Airways flight en route from Charlotte
to Ft. Myers. She is alleged to have slapped, kicked and spat at crewmembers.
29 MARCH: JOHANNESBERG
Lulu Xingwana, the South African Minister for Women and Children, is alleged to have been verbally abusive on board a South African Airways flight from Accra having been denied an upgrade from economy to business class. Reports indicate that Xingwana allegedly shouted at a white air hostess, "shut up, shut up, is it because I am a kaffir?" Xingwana had also allegedly refused to allow the crew to stow her hand luggage for takeoff.
30 MARCH: MONTEVIDEO A group of 20 intoxicated Turkish passengers became disruptive on board a Pluna flight en route from Rio de Janeiro to Montevideo. Police met the flight on its arrival in Montevideo but, as none of the passengers had visas for Uruguay and most were unfit for onward travel to Buenos Aires – their intended destination, they had to spend the night in the airport terminal.
