ADULT General Interest Basic Dog Obedience
Positive reinforcement methods keep tails wagging while dog owners learn to prevent and modify inappropriate behavior. Basic commands of sit, down, stay, come, walk on leash and more will be covered. Class is conducted through lectures and demonstrations; where having fun is key to learning. Dogs must be 4 months of age and older with completion of their first set of shots. Handlers must be at least 8 years of age with an adult or 16 years without an adult. The first class is a mandatory lecture without dogs. Age:

Dog and Cat First Aid and CPR
Pets are an important part of the family, but would you know what to do if your dog or cat had a medical emergency? This class will provide you with valuable information and skills that gives your pet a better chance of survival should a medical emergency occur. Skills learned include basic wound care, bleeding management, the Heimlich maneuver, rescue breathing, and CPR. Learn how to recognize early warning signs of illness, how to stay safe while helping your pet, what to do if your pet is hit by a car or ingests something poisonous, how to create a pet first aid and disaster preparedness kit! At the completion of the course, each participant will receive an American Red Cross Dog and Cat First Aid Completion certificate. Each person will also receive their choice of either the American Red Cross cat or dog first aid book and DVD set to take home. No prior knowledge is necessary. No live pets during class. State-certified volunteer educators teach the basics of safe hunting, including hunter responsibility, wildlife management, firearm, ammunition and archery safety, first aid and survival techniques. Passing a Hunter Safety class is required for anyone born on or after January 1, 1980 who wants an Illinois hunting license. This course also meets the requirements for adult hunters in many other states. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 16.
