Let the Museum bring history to you! Learn about genealogy, preserving your family heirlooms and the Museum profession. Explore your community’s history and hone your inner historian while enjoying one of our entertaining and educational programs. Programs can be tailored to your group’s interests and age level and includes a hands-on component.


Downers Grove History for Homeschoolers


Let the Museum supplement your child’s home school educational experience. Children ages 8 - 12 years participate in age appropriate hands-on activities and projects, which will engage them in their community’s history. Choose from a wide range of topics or customize a program.

The Museum offers a variety of hands-on, educational programs for scouts and organized youth groups. Sharpen your thinking skills and explore your community’s past with a fun group activity. Topics include maps of Downers Grove, historic architecture, cemetery walks and Victorian manners and games. Programs can be tailored for your group’s age level and specific interests. Programs may fulfill some scout badge requirements.

ITrolley Tours n cooperation with the Downers Grove


Economic Development Corporation and the Downers Grove Downtown Management Corporation, the Museum is offering two individual trolley tours, one Sears Homes tour and one Historic Downers Grove tour. Tours begin and end at the Museum. View the Museum’s exhibits and enjoy light refreshments after the tour. The Museum presents a monthly club for kids who are truly interested in history and the museum world. Kids develop a greater appreciation for history and learn how to apply that knowledge by building leadership and life- long learning skills. Participate in a variety of activities: working with artifacts, learning about the significance of museums, historic research and presentations, docent training, book discussions and planning, designing and installing a museum exhibit. Some work may be done outside of the regularly scheduled meetings depending on project demands. Age:
