LASS SAFETYWORKS & Solutions Ltd, one of the UK’s leading ‘safety at height’ specialists,

has recently provided an upgraded roof safety and access system at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital School in Bristol.

The Senior School, which

has existed since 1590 to provide an education for boys, is a Grade 1 listed building so it was essential that the specified products not only met the safety requirements, but that they were also in accordance to English Heritage guidelines. SAFETYWORKS worked in conjunction with the architect, Robert Mitchell, the School maintenance teams, and S P Isaac Roofing & Construction Ltd of Bath, who are specialists in the refurbishment of lead and listed buildings. The solution was for SAFETYWORKS to specify a range of products that would ensure safe movement around the roof enabling maintenance crews and external contractors secure access.

SAFETYWORKS installed 10 Uniline 8mm Stainless Steel Systems to the tiled roofs, totalling 280m. Uniline allows “hands free” protection throughout the length of the system, where the operator is attached via a link device that glides over the brackets without the need to detach from the fall protection system. Robin Miles-Holdaway, Contracts Manager of SAFETYWORKS & Solutions, said: “Our experience of working with listed buildings certainly assisted us in this project.
