SERVICES SPOTLIGHT This month: The Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency
THE GORFAINE/SCHWARTZ AGENCY, now in its 30th year, specialises in providing the entertainment industry with musicians to compose scores for games, films and TV. Located in Burbank, California, over the last five years representing games music professionals has gradually become a larger focus for the organisation as the industry looks to create ever-bigger blockbusters on the scale of big movie productions. “I believe that interactive
entertainment is the entertainment of choice for the 21st Century, and as an agent, it is not only important to embrace this but to lead the way,” says Gorfaine/Schwartz agent Cheryl Tiano. “Additionally, our composers really
enjoy the process of scoring games. The people they’re dealing with are often extremely creative so it is an amazing collaborative experience.” Tiano says it now represents a
plethora of “highly acclaimed” musical artists, producers, songwriters, supervisors and editors, all offering their expertise to game productions. Some of the composers currently working with the Gorfaine/Schwartz

Tiano claims that with such experienced musicians, the agency can provide studios with “world-class” music from artistically diverse composers from around the globe. The Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency also helps to initiate introductions between
composers and developers, negotiating deals while addressing contractual concerns and production issues. She says the company also works on
creating budgets for the projects that are suitable to the studio’s aims and the needs of the composer, whilst looking to build long-term creative relationships for everyone involved. Tiano believes that providing such a service is hugely important for the

industry, as music in games is now “extremely important”, as player’s demand more from their experiences, particularly with regard to the high budget productions that continue to fascinate huge numbers of players. “The quality of the score and of the
