Research Degree Programmes
Students have the opportunity to register for a Masters by research or PhD. These opportunities are advertised on the Institute's recruitment webpages -
www.gmit.ie/research/vacancies. Alternatively, potential students may apply to study as a self-funded student through the submission of a research proposal. The application form is available from
ResearchOffice@gmit.ie. An applicant, assisted by a potential supervisor, submits the form to the relevant Head of School, which in turn is processed through the Research Office.

Student Profile
Paula Haynes Graduate 2011
Undertaking the Applied Aquatic Ecology degree at GMIT provided me with a firm foundation of the knowledge and skills necessary to complete my
doctorate here, in fisheries ecology and conservation. The support network at GMIT is outstanding; with my supervisors Dr. Deirdre Brophy and Dr. David McGrath highly respected experts in their scientific fields. The equipment we use is cutting edge in our new state of the art Marine and Freshwater Research Centre.
