BETT SAYSGOODBYETO OLYMPIA INFINE STYLE


BETT 2012 said goodbye to Olympia in January in fine style.The show,opened by education secretaryMichael Gove, offered visitors innovation galore,well attendedworkshops, a plethora of interactivewhite boards and lots of ideas for theway ahead in technology.Next year BETT moves to ExCeL. This year BETT included a


Gaming Zone, offering hands-on demonstrations in game design and game-based learning. Innovation Avenue and the SENZonewere no longer located away fromOlympia itself as in previous years. Therewas a rich


programme of learning and CPDaccredited sessions and the INSET Passport enabled visitors to document the


professional skills and knowledge developed at the showso teachers can report back and share their learningswith other enthusiastic teachers and help provide evidence of training and development for their school’s SEF. Also for the first time there


were BETT Gurus – experienced BETT visitors – who helped their fellow visitors to get the best out of the show. Once again, Professor


StephenHeppellwas at the heart of the showwith his exploringNewWorlds of Learningwhere a group of schoolchildrenwere sharing ideas andworkingwith other students and teachers across the globe. The showgot off to a cracking start by being


opened by education secretaryMichael Govewho said: “Events like BETT are crucial in showcasing the best and brightest of the technology industry, showing what can be done – andwhat is already being achieved.We will depend upon your insight and ideas, your expertise and experience as you take these technologies into your schools and try them with your students.” As usual, therewere over


6,000 overseas visitors, including seniorministers of education fromtheWorld Education Forum, being held at the same time, and many overseas companies including organisations such asHPwho chose BETT for the global launch of its new products and services. Therewas a strong


presence fromthemedia development authority of Singapore and Francewith its CapDigital Paris organisationwhose dozen of its 600members were offering their services at their show. British IT and technology


companies such as European Electronique, Promethean and Stone all had new products and services to beguile even themost seasoned visitors. 3Dprojectors gained


further ground this year as DLPmade its presence felt on a number of stands aswell as its own. The Software Zonewas full


of firms displaying their ranges of software and content. Even on themain
