BOXFORDMOVE HPC presents
colour-codedwork areas, walkways and fork-lift truck routes. It is intended to hang information boards above the most significant plant in the manufacturing area. Boxford employs about
50 people, working on a single-shift basis formost of the time. At peak times, when output fromthe CNC machines has to be increased, some staff transfer to second and even third shifts in order to keep the CNCmachines running at near-maximumcapacity. In recent years, Boxford has
reinforced its export efforts, including attending overseas exhibitions, with some of its CNCmachines. Said Paul: “Our export effort has borne fruit in recent years and this has helped us prosper,
despite the current uncertainties in theUK market caused by the curriculumreview.” Fewpeoplewould question
the extent towhich the company has gone in recent years to ‘put something back into the subject’. Its latest contribution to theD&T community is a library of project ideas, significant in number, variable in their complexity and concise in their detail. They have been made available free of charge and can be reviewed and downloaded fromthe Resource Centre on the website
