FOOD TECHNOLOGY

WHENTHE CATERINGteam based at theUniversity of Glamorgan, in Pontypridd, decided that theywanted to add a premiumcoffee bar to the university’s existing food and drink offer, theywere looking for a compact unit thatwas easy to install and could punch above itsweight in terms of size versus takings. Not only did they need an

efficient and flexible unit, they alsowanted a solution that was straight forward to install in order tominimise disruption in this very busy part of the campus. Catering servicesmanager,

Helen Anzani, opted for an innovative Space Station, the self contained, modular servery unitmade by Space Catering Equipment. She told Technology in Education: “We went for a Space Station for a number of reasons, butmainly because itwas built offsite, offered a really flexible trading area and could be installed in just one day.” The Space Station is located

to the side of the seating area in themain food court and nowoffers staff and students a premiumrange of fresh Starbucks coffees alongwith homemademuffins, cookies, salads and baguettes. The frontage and solid surface top were customised to fit inwith the rest of the decor, aswell as to look stylish and catch the eye of customers bymaking themost of its Starbucks branding.
