UTAH DAVIS COUNTY Adventure Adds Edge to Meetings T

HERE ARE MEETINGS that attendees sim- ply won’t remember after they have returned home. And then there are the ones that are held in Davis County, Utah. Here, business has a way of truly convening with adventure. The result is memorable and productive meetings. No visit to Utah is complete without a trip to the Great Salt Lake — and the best place to experience the lake is on Antelope Island. In addition to floating in the salt water, attendees can enjoy the beach or take a customized horseback ride with the island’s outfitter. Binoculars are a must, as Antelope Island offers the best views of antelope, mule deer, big-horn sheep, coyotes, and a herd of more than 500 free-roam- ing bison.

Golf enthusiasts of all abilities will want to take a

crack at the game on one of Davis County’s nine pristine golf courses, which feature scenic mountain and valley backdrops and offer every level of play. Skiers can take their pick from among 10 ski resorts, situated within 20 minutes to one hour of the county’s hotels. After a

hard day on the links or the slopes, guests can relax with a massage at one of several day spas.

The Davis Conference Center in Layton is bet- ter than ever following a $10-million expansion that increased its capac- ity by 38,000 square feet. The expansion includes a 17,000-square-foot exhibit hall and more than 10,000 square feet of contiguous meeting and prefunction

areas, creating a combined total of more than 70,000 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting and exhibition space. The county has more than 1,500 guest rooms, 550

of which lie within walking distance of the Davis Con- ference Center. Possibilities include the Home 2 Suites, which opened in March 2011 and is only the second Home 2 Suites property in the United States. More than 250 restaurants, 90 of which are within walking distance of the hotels and convention center, form a true “hospitality zone,” complete with everything from fine restaurants to casual hot spots. The Davis Area Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Services Department can assist with group reservations and off-site theme-dining experiences. ■
