storage racking & shelving l

Hampshire Mezzanine Floors was engaged by a local furniture company to fit out a new warehouse to include adjustable pallet racking.

Space saver S

mith Bradbeer & Company required a new warehouse to be located within close proximity to its main furniture store at Hedge End,

Hampshire.

The £25,000 job, which took less than two weeks to complete, included examples of Hampshire Mezzanine Floors’ work with the installation of pallet racking, open boarded decking, carpet racking supports and decking as well as chipboard decking. Smith Bradbeer asked Hampshire Mezzanine Floors to rack out its new warehouse using space efficient adjustable pallet racking to maximise space and picking efficiency. At the same time, HMF installed column guard protectors and load notices to maximise safety in the workplace. Hampshire Mezzanine Floors has

been trading for over 25 years as an interior fit-out main contractor. Managing director Angus Rewcastle has developed his company from being simply a local contractor to building projects throughout the UK. Smith Bradbeer & Co has been a customer of Hampshire Mezzanine Floors for over 10 years, and has used HMF for fitting racking and shelving throughout the years as its company has expanded.

Smith Bradbeer & Co was pleased with the work - its managing director, Greg Davies, states: “HMF have carried out a number of installations successfully for ourselves over the last 10 years. As usual, we are happy with the build quality and service level provided. The project was also completed on programme.” ● www.hmf-uk.com

A winner at Aintree

Situated by the famous Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool, Parfetts, an independent Cash and Carry has been serving local customers for over 25 years.

Its busy warehouse is open seven days a week and covers 105,000 sq ft. Twenty years ago it installed Storax mobile racking systems. After two decades of continuous use, it has decided to refit and has opted to stay with Storax and install eight replacement mobile racks each with a capacity of 128 pallets per rack.

The mobile racking section of the warehouse accounts for about 10% of the entire space. It is principally used for the storage of bulk beers as well as confectionery, groceries and soft drinks for export. This particular section is part of the goods inwards operation and is off limits to the general public. The main area of the warehouse, accessible to customers, contains conventional static racking.

Parfetts operations manager Dave Thompson – pictured (right) with Gary Firth, Storax sales director – is responsible for the warehouse. He says: “The four week installation was completed on time and with minimum disruption. This was especially important as the pre- Christmas period is a particularly busy time for Parfetts when we take in much higher levels of stock. "We’ve been very happy with our Storax mobile racking, but needed to upgrade. The new mobile racking has state-of-the-art Cascade Controls which allow all racks to move together, which is an added benefit. Overall, I’m very pleased with the service we have received from Storax.” ●
