ince 1902, the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) has been providing the highest standards
of care to patients across Lebanon and the region. It is also the teaching hospital for the Faculty of Medicine at AUB (established in 1867), which has trained generations of medical students and physicians; its graduates can be found at leading institutions around the world. Patient-centred, multi- disciPlinary aPProach to care Multiple services have been established to meet the needs of the region’s patients in prevalent or underserved health areas. AUBMC will lead the delivery of patient care through focusing on a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary approach. Patients will have their medical needs fulfilled by a dedicated team of healthcare professionals: Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Centre – the first in the region Mahmdouha El Sayed Bobst Breast Unit – the first breast unit of its kind in the Middle East, dedicated to the comprehensive assessment of breast complaints has a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the latest technologies in breast imaging
Mikati Foundation Liver Transplantation and Hepatopancreaticobiliary Unit Hamdan Voice Unit. Aligned with AUBMC’s patient-centric approach, a unit dedicated solely to patient satisfaction has been established - the Patient Affairs Team. New roles and processes have been developed to allow for the proactive and timely response of patient needs, including Cour tesy Officers, Patient Advocates, and a Patient Education Coordinator. Recognizing the impor tance of medical tourism and the growing need for better provision of healthcare to patients in the region, an International Patient Office at AUBMC has been established to handle all the needs of patients from outside of Lebanon from the moment they decide to come to AUBMC until the moment they leave Beirut.
