UKM is one of the leading medical and therapeutic centres in Europe. The close combination of patient care and research enables medical treatment of highest level and continuous improvement of therapies and treatment opportunities not just for local patients, but for those coming to Munster from all over Germany and abroad. We feature almost every medi- cal speciality. Our interdisciplinary conferences provide accu- rate diagnoses, patients benefit from modern treatments.
Specialization An important part of our university hospital is the affiliated diagnostic and therapy centres. The represent specialization, pooling of expertise and customized treatments – and thus con- tribute to increase treatment opportunities. In the area of pati- ent treatment, support and care, apart from doctors/physicians and members of other health and medical-technical professions at University Hospital of Munster, many other professional groups as well as numerous volunteers are also involved.
The UKM employs 7.200 people from 62 nations. Every year in UKM approximately 43.000 patients admitted as in-pati- ents. For this purpose there are about 1.300 beds available. The hospital grounds include about 100 buildings and 20.000 rooms. In the Central Hospital, approximately 65 percent of all clinics (wards and outpatient clinics) are housed. With 3.000 students, the Medical Faculty of the University of Muenster is one of the largest in Germany. It enjoys interna- tional reputation as a training facility for future physicians and scientists. Numerous guests from inland and abroad participate as guest doctors, guest researchers or scholars in extensive training and continuing education programs.
International patient management Foreign patients may be treated in all clinics and depart- ments of the UKM. The Office of international patient ma- nagement is the central contact and coordination point for these patients.
