Here are some steps to help you navigate the admissions process and have a smooth transition to UNF!
1. Keep your grades up.
Not only will having a strong GPA increase your likelihood for success in college-level courses, but it is a significant factor determining which students are selected for admission. Eighth through 12th grade coursework is considered in our GPA recalculation, so every year counts. Honors, IB, AICE, AP, and dual enrollment coursework will receive extra weighting in the GPA calculation.
2. Select your courses carefully. The list below details the minimum number of required courses you
must take before high school graduation in order to be considered for admission to UNF. We encourage students to take additional academic courses for their elective options. Know your limits and work with your high school guidance counselor to craft an appropriate course load.
The following courses MUST be completed: 4 English
4 Mathematics (Algebra 1 or higher) 3 Natural Sciences 3 Social Sciences 2 Sequential Foreign Language 2 Academic Electives
3. Take the SAT and/or ACT.
The best preparation for the SAT and ACT is to study early and often. Spring semester of your junior year is a prime time to attempt the tests for the first time. Students are encouraged to continue testing leading into their senior year. We will consider your best subsection on any test for admission.
4. Apply early for admission.
With the competitiveness of admission to UNF on the rise, you will want to be ahead of the game by applying early. We begin accepting applications for the 2013 freshman class in August 2012. Use the checklist below to be sure you have submitted everything by the priority deadline.
The following items MUST be submitted: Admissions Application
$30 Application Fee (or fee waiver) High School Transcripts (plus any AP, IB, AICE, or dual enrollment transcripts) SAT or ACT Scores
