Lowtide
Women’s Boating Seminar February 18
The 15th Annual Women’s Boating
Seminar will take place at the North Seattle Community College. This event is for women only and is fun, inspirational as well as educational. Guest speakers are professional women in the boating industry, sharing their knowledge about a variety of boating topics related to both power and sail. Judy Nasmith started this event
back in 1998 when she saw the need as a yacht broker to encourage women to be more involved in the sport. This has resulted in women being more confident in taking the helm and enjoying their time on the water. Choose from a variety of topics to
suit your interest and skill level. Gift certificates available and includes choice of classes, refreshments, lunch and drawing for valuable door prizes. Full details and registration available
at
www.latitudesailingassoc.org or call (206) 963-3560.
The Sailing Foundation is hosting a
US Sailing sanctioned two day seminar on Safe Boating Practices and Safety Equipment in Seattle. Author & sailor, John Rousmaniere,
will moderate the events, assisted by West Marine’s Chuck Hawley. The seminar will provide novice and experienced boaters with information and skills on boat preparation, handling heavy weather, recommended safety equipment, emergencies at sea, and preparing for sailing offshore. The program is open to cruising and racing skippers, crew, and family, recreational power boaters, and commercial fishermen. The Saturday classroom program is designed to meet the requirements for racers competing in US and Canadian offshore events. Sunday’s program includes hands-on training and on-the-water demonstrations. Visit:
