In December, ShD brought the news that UGI Corporation had purchased Shell Gas (LPG) UK, rebranding the operation as AvantiGas. This month, we catch up with Jude Payne, Key Prospects Sales, AvantiGas, to hear about the plans for the brand and its ambitions, and to gain a sneak preview of the messages it will be putting out at IMHX 2013.
Life’s a gas
ShD: Please talk us through the transition from Shell Gas (LPG) to AvantiGas.
Jude Payne (JP): AvantiGas was acquired by the UGI Corporation in October 2011, and the transition since has been smooth and seamless. There has been no impact on customers or employees; in fact, AvantiGas has already made investments by recruiting new members to our sales team and invested further by increasing its delivery vehicle fleet. Our ambition is to become the world’s number one LPG provider, and we’re continually looking at ways in which to develop our offer to the LPG market.
ShD: How would you describe the AvantiGas set-up in the UK? JP: We operate and deliver throughout the UK with two supply terminals based in Mossmorran and Ellesmere Port and numerous delivery depots throughout the country.
ShD: Is your offering primarily bulk LPG? JP: We offer bulk LPG as we believe the benefits of a bulk LPG supply outweigh the supply by cylinders, particularly in the fork lift truck industry.
ShD: What arguments do you put forward for bulk LPG vs. cylinders? JP: Cost, convenience and manual handling come to mind.
