“I am studying seventeenth-century Scottish history and have been extremely fortunate to work with the leading scholars in my field. The available resources in the School of History for postgraduates, such as the careers training seminars held each semester, have been extremely beneficial to my research and my understanding of how I wish to achieve my goals in academia.”

The School of History occupies three sites all within a few minutes walk of each other and all in the heart of the historic town of St Andrews:

• On tree-lined South Street and close to the ruins of the Cathedral, the School of History is based in a charming seventeenth-century town house and the adjoining mediaeval residence of the Hospitallers.

• St Katharine’s Lodge is a nineteenth-century former school (where Field Marshall Earl Haig went to school) close to St Andrews Castle and the magnificent West Sands beach.

• The Arts Building was opened in 2006 with up-to-date teaching spaces and well-equipped staff offices and is very conveniently sited next to the University Library.
