WHAT’S NEW It’s the new Tekcel GFX
Tekcel CNC Solutions has announced a ground breaking new addition to its range of class leading CNC routers. The new Tekcel GFX model provides a comprehensive solution to the so far unanswered demand for a heavy duty CNC router that also has the capability to deliver cutting and creasing across a wide range of digitally printed sheet and roll materials.
Tekcel CNC routers are highly regarded across a broad range of industries and have become a common sight in hundreds of sign, display and exhibition companies throughout the UK over the past 10 years.
The new Tekcel GFX system combines the
uncompromising CNC routing capabilities necessary to machine all manner of metals, plastics, woods and composites used daily by sign, display and exhibition companies, with the cut/print registration, knife-cutting and creasing tools required to cut the materials popularly fed through large format digital printers.
Unlike other systems on the market, where either the routing or knife- cutting utility is a bolt-on component often requiring manual removal and replacement, the Tekcel GFX fully integrates routing, registration and cutting tools into a comprehensive, Auto Tool Change, high production system.

The result of a joint venture between Freudenberg Evolon and Kernow Coatings, Evolon by Hydrosol and Evolon by HydroJet are patented PVC-free textile substrates that are now available in the UK from Amari Digital Supplies. They have been developed for two primary digital printing technologies, with the former designed for use with solvent, eco-solvent and UVC and Latex inks and the latter designed for aqueous-based inks. They share many of the same design characteristics and benefits and carry the French M1 fire rating that is generally considered to be the most stringent in Europe. Unlike non-woven products, the substrates are manufactured using endless spun polyester/polyamide micro fibres that are 100 times thinner than a human hair. These are then fractured by Evolon’s high-pressure water-jet process that simultaneously entangles and consolidates the microfilaments. The result is a continuous microfilament construction that leads to a much higher level of strength, stability and tear resistance.
Kernow Coatings’ HydroSol and HydroJet technologies are water-based, non-toxic coatings that are infused into the matrix of the material, resulting in a minimal environmental burden on the basic substrate and delivering a superb quality of finish.

An adaptation kit for the Epson Stylus Pro GS6000 roll-fed inkjet printer is now available, enabling users to produce borderless prints; a first in the eco-solvent wide-format sector.
The kit, available both as an on-site upgrade for existing GS6000 customers and offered as an option on new purchases, allows users to take advantage of new business opportunities, in line with the growing demand for signage and POS applications for interior decoration such as customised wallpapers and window graphics.
The GS6000 offers the widest colour gamut to date in a 64-inch roll-fed eco-solvent printer. Designed for both outdoor and indoor applications, it is able to switch easily between a range of different coated and non-coated substrates including vinyl, making it an ideal flexible solution for multiple commercial applications.
The kit enhances the GS6000’s capabilities, enabling printing without borders at widths from 11.8 inches (300mm) up to 62.5 inches (1,590mm). The on-site upgrade can be performed in about an hour by an Epson service engineer, or comes pre-fitted on a new GS6000. Once upgraded the printer can still print with borders and retains the same high print speeds, print longevity and quality as before.
New from Shuttleworth
Shuttleworth Business Systems is delighted to announce the launch of Electronic Proof of Delivery (POD) bringing huge benefits of improved efficiency and accuracy to the delivery of any finished goods or services. This new development addresses the need for printers to be in total control of every aspect of production including the final delivery. It reinforces Shuttleworth’s commitment to continual
development aimed at enhancing the Shuttleworth experience for all their users. This addition is part of this latest release to the Shuttleworth system, version 5, released in October.
Electronic POD gives the ability to provide delivery information directly to mobile devices for delivery drivers without additional input as the information is fully integrated with their Shuttleworth MIS. The delivery personnel simply request the customer to sign the device upon receipt of any goods. This electronic POD is then sent immediately back to the Shuttleworth System via 3G and attaches itself to the job file. Emails are then sent automatically to the end customer to tell them their goods have been delivered.
