As we start 2012 I am just getting prepared to go to CES and must say I am most excited and also intrigued at all the new products and technologies we will be reporting on and then relaying to our readers, although I am sure that there will be many retailers taking that flight to see for themselves the opportunities that are being showcased and how the look and content of their showrooms may be affected this year. 2011 was a tough year for electrical retailing and we saw some casualties with some independent retailers but also some multiples, this is always sad but also highlights the importance of the independent retailer and the services that they offer to both the manufacturers and the consumers. We always highlight the importance of training, as can be seen in our regular Sales


Training Plus feature. It is also so important that the manufacturers integrate with their dealers and retailers and to back this up we will be launching our IER Product Show. Put into your diaries the 21st June as this is the IER Product Show, an opportunity to visit the manufacturers on their stands during the day and then our annual Independent Business Awards Gala dinner to be held in the evening. Taking place at the Forest of Arden we are also offering a fantastic golf event on the 20th June. Full details on the event and also how to reserve your place can be found opposite! This new two day event shows our commitment to the industry and to our readers and manufacturers alike, we are looking forward to 2012, with the Olympics also highlighting the year and the involvement this has offered manufacturers we also have the European Championships we are positive this will be a great opportunity for the retailers to maximise on the public’s excitement and purchasing of new equipment in which to enjoy these events.
