WOrLD’s GREATeSt HOBBY TOUr
We’ll see you there! Come visit the Carstens booth! Carstens PUBLICATIONS, INC. 90 MARCH 2012
The modelers and their models: Richard Yaremko (left) and Andy Barber (right) took the fer- ry from Vancouver Island and a shuttle bus to help fill the RPM room and, incidently, help remind us that 2012 is the 100th anniversary of the Pacific Great Eastern/British Columbia Railway/BC Rail, with some of their models. Richard’s HO brass scale caboose 1839 wears the mid-1960’s paint scheme and has modified Des Plaines Hobbies platform and step parts, while Andy’s BC Rail flat X1234 (how’s that for a number?) is a re-detailed HO Proto 1000 model with a Viking front end loader, scratchbuilt loading ramp, and correct tie downs.

beyond their (appropriately) tighter fo- cus. As as I have written in this space before, most of them have a “travel ad- vantage” because they are usually one tank of gas events lasting part of a day. I have been fortunate to be able to at-
tend a number of these each year, in- cluding the RPM meet that is part of an annual model railway exhibition/mini- convention/public show/a great time in general held in Burnaby, B.C. (adjacent to Vancouver). Sponsored by the 7th Di- vision, PNR, NMRA (Canada), it over- laps Remembrance Day weekend, Vet- erans’ Day south of the border (the U.S.). I have also been able to visit with
