BARTOW AREA BOARD
The Bartow Area Board of REALTORS decided to carry on their Thanksgiving tradition of organizing and donating baskets — which include the many ingredients necessary to make a traditional Thanksgiving feast — to families in need this year. The Board was able to provide 135 families with baskets full of food, exceeding its goal of 125 baskets! Once again, the Beta Club from Cartersville High School helped to organize the baskets. The board is thankful for all of its members and affiliates who participated, and especially grateful to Phoenix Air for their donation towards the basket drive again this year. A special thanks goes out to the Community Service Committee for all of their hard work. We are all blessed, because together, we made a difference in someone else’s life.

DEKALB ASSOCIATION
The DeKalb Association held its annual Joint Membership Luncheon with the DeKalb Chapter Women’s Council of REALTORS in October at Druid Hills Golf Club. The interactive program included a panel of lenders and appraisers that discussed navigating from contract to closing. Election of 2012 Officers and Directors was also included.

ATLANTA BOARD
The Atlanta Board of REALTORS (ABR) recently completed its tenth Habitat for Humanity house. On September 10, ABR members joined the Atlanta Chapter of Habitat for Humanity for a ground breaking day to kick-off the seven week project. Over 300 volunteers came together to help complete this build, which ended with a dedication day on Saturday, October 22.

New homeowner Santeria Reedy and her son, Antonio Willis, Jr., participated in the dedication. Ms. Reedy works as a sales associate at a large major retailer, stays heavily involved in her son’s life and is a steady presence in her church. She is “… so glad to be realizing her dream of an affordable home and to be leaving a situation that is less affordable, crowded, and sometimes unsafe.” In her qualification interview she explained that she has worked hard to have a place to call her own. Congratulations, Santeria Reedy, your hard work has not gone unnoticed!

ABR would like to extend a special thanks to FMLS and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and all the members and sponsors that made this community project a success. The Atlanta Board of REALTORS is dedicated to building at least one Habitat for Humanity Home each year.

COLUMBUS BOARD
Last fall, The Landings Shopping Center in Columbus held a community-wide scarecrow contest, with categories for family, children, adult individual, classroom, and business. Awards were given for each category, as well as a People’s Choice and Best in Show awards. The Columbus Board entered the contest with its “There’s No Place Like Home” display, promoting REALTORS and the Board. The Board was excited to win the “People’s Choice Award” in the competition.
