Expeditionary force
TWENTY-EIGHT students from Year 11 were left to navigate their way to a campsite in Clitheroe, as they completed their final expedition for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award. The students set off in groups from a small farm close to West Bradford in Lancashire and used maps and route cards to reach Moorlands School, where they pitched their tents for the night. The next day, they walked to Downham village for a well-deserved lunch. Congratulations to all the students who have now completed the four sections of the award.

Dance your way to fitness
ZUMBA is taking over the UK. Staff who want to join in the dance craze should come along to the Dance Studio on Tuesdays, from 4-5pm. It’s good fun, and a great way to get fit.

Historians step back in time
THE annual GCSE History trip to London was a great success again this year.
After lunch in Covent Garden, we visited the Winston Churchill Museum where students toured an underground air raid shelter and,
in the evening, we went to see Shrek The Musical at the famous Drury Lane Theatre. Next morning, we were up early to visit the London Dungeons before beginning the journey back to Rochdale.

French connection
NEXT May, 40 students from across Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 will be visiting Paris for five days on a combined Science and Languages trip. They will be travelling by coach and ferry, and will stay in a four-star hotel in the centre of the French capital.
The students will take part in a variety of activities, including a trip up the Eiffel Tower, an evening meal at the Hard Rock Café, and a day at the Cité des Sciences where they will visit a 4-D cinema. They will also spend a day riding the rollercoasters in Parc Asterix and, of course, practising their French.
