IgA Subclasses

IgA subclass concentrations can assist in the investigation of immunodeficiency, autoimmune and infectious diseases. Alterations of the IgA1/IgA2 ratio have been related to specific diseases and to anaphylactic transfusion reactions. IgA2 accounts for only 15% of total IgA therefore a deficiency of IgA2 may not be detected if only total serum IgA concentrations are measured. Grossly elevated levels of either subclass may occur in patients with IgA myeloma. Latex enhanced reagents are provided for most assays enabling the quantitation of low levels of specific antibody. Each kit contains controls, calibrators and full instructions for running the assay.
