handling tyres, wheels & castors l
Replacing solid tyres on machines is always an investment. Dennis Pickering of TVH Forklift Parts says his company is highly dedicated to help customers make the right decision to maximise the value of this investment.
Rubber bulletin
ubber industry and technology have made enormous steps forward towards premium and high-tech tyres in the last decades. Where the first generation of solid rubber tyres was merely homogeneous mass baked in a mould, manufactures have now moved to a variety of compounds and qualities with improved traction, less rolling resistance, less heat built up, etc.

forklift market are without a doubt the solid rubber tyres, also called super elastic tyres. They evolved slowly out of the pneumatic tyres because of their big advantage: they can't run flat. But they also give an improved stability to the machine, especially when loads are lifted to very high position, and have a largely increased life span due to the fact that they have a lot more rubber to wear off. Nevertheless, today a customer can purchase and select his tyres at a vast number of suppliers all claiming to be the best with, in many cases, the lowest price. All solid tyres today are made quite aesthetically so that from the outside it is impossible to determine whether you have a premium quality or just plain rubbish. Testing and experiencing 'on the job' is in many cases the only way to determine whether your purchase is ideal, but equally as important is choosing a reliable partner and supplier that can guide and offer exactly the tyre that you need. TVH Forklift Parts has therefore developed a solid tyre range called TOTALSOURCE in the solid tyre range, which offers tyres from a basic quality through a wide range of standard quality to a premium product. Needless to say that of course most of the manufacturers offer a similar programme.
What we would call basic is a two- layer tyre that can be used in light conditions or for a couple of hours a day. It can dissipate less heat and has a
harder ride than standard or premium product. But it has the advantage of price, and, where quality does not have to be the determining factor, it might be the right choice.
Standard and premium tyres both have a three-layer configuration, which means a middle-layer that gives a cushioning effect and comfort to the driver of a level almost as a pneumatic tyre. These tyres can be used in almost all applications due to a very well balanced chemical composition. ●
