Cardwell, a multi-facetted company with operations in retail, grounds and winter maintenance, civil engineering and wholesale nurseries, has chosen Continental's MPT 80 tyre for its mixed winter fleet to improve performance and efficiency during harsh weather conditions.
No let-downs T
rading since 1962 as a family
business and based
at Lunderston Bay Gourock, Cardwell turned to
Continental after the previously fitted brand let it down with a higher-than- average number of punctures, causing vehicle downtime. Purchasing high end specialist
vehicles for its winter fleet, the company runs a mixture of plant and conventional
vehicles. These range from a 3t JCB
Teletruck through to military-spec MAN 4X4 off road trucks, fitted with econ bodies used primarily for winter gritting and snow clearance.
Cardwell found quick improvements during periods of prolonged snow after moving to the Continental MPT80, with enhanced performance and reduced vehicle downtime.
Co-owner Drew Gallagher said: "After some research, I agreed to run them on one vehicle for the 2010/11 winter, which was the harshest for decades with daytime temperatures of +1O and night time of -18O
C C. I have to say, I
am very impressed with the tyres. We had no problems at all and they are a
very tough tyre for an incredibly demanding application."
Employing over 130 local people with clients including many blue chip multi-national companies, government agencies, local authorities and housing associations, Cardwell found Continental's MPT 80 tyre to be utterly dependant.
Drew Gallagher added: "Overall, both I and our support team are delighted not only with the performance of the product but also with the support from
Continental. Like many businesses today, we are constantly under pressure from both our customers and the weather. Using the Continental MPT 80 simply took one problem away – I didn't have to worry about my tyres."
Drew now runs the 12.5 R20 across his fleet of 4X4 tyres; as a result of their performance, he is about to test the Continental SC20 for his yard fork lift truck. ●
