Coached by her brother Brian, Rookard started roller-skating at the age of 6 and didn’t take up speedskating on ice until 2006. Aft er bursting onto the speedskating scene, Rookard immediately earned a spot on her fi rst World Cup team in 2007.
During the 2010-11, Rookard skated to her fi rst World Cup medal - a gold - in the 3000m in Berlin.

Rookard is dedicated to her family and the relationships in her life. Right before Christmas 2009 her mother passed away from cancer but Rookard was glad her mother knew she had made the Olympic team.
Off the ice, Rookard attends Ashworth College and enjoys soft ball, volleyball, bowling, diving, tennis, fi gure skating, and roller hockey.
