with family and friends. It is a time of celebration and appreciation for the blessings that we enjoy in a free society. It is also a time when many Elks contribute toys, blankets, clothing, and food for distribution to those in the community who are in need. Many lodges work closely with local food pantries, and some lodges invite families and indi- viduals who have very little to a special holiday dinner as guests of the lodge.

The holiday season is also a time to bring cheer to our veterans. Members and lodge representatives are encouraged to visit our veterans in


visit our veterans in hospitals, nursing homes, and other facili- ties. Lodge members can bring cheer to local veterans by sending them holiday cards thanking them for all they have given us.


Bringing a smile to the face of a veteran or a child, or a mom or a dad who have very little and need our support, will fill your heart with holiday cheer.


Probably the greatest New Year’s resolution we can make is to rededicate ourselves to achieving or exceeding the goals that we set at the beginning of the lodge year. Thanks to our many programs, Elks make a tremendous difference in the lives of children and adults with disabilities, veterans, victims of disas- ter, and others in need in our communities throughout the year. I thank each and every member for your support of our many programs. Penny and I wish you and your families a joyous holiday season and a healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year.
